Foster “Care” Sunday

ON SITE & ZOOM.

When it comes to creating a multicultural “community of communities,” we don’t often think about families in the foster care system. When it comes to understanding the needs of the marginalized, we don’t often consider the needs of kids who lose their birth families and homes because of abuse or neglect and through no fault of their own. During this service, three CVUUS families shared their perspectives on how relationships and love can transform worlds in the foster care environment. Poppy Rees, Dir of Religious Exploration invited people to start decorating our tree. Add an ornament or memory ribbon commemorating loved ones anytime this month. RE kids hope you’ll support their effort toward feeding hungry families, especially in Gaza, by buying ornaments they made, with proceeds from their sales sent to World Central Kitchen.

We’re exploring Soul Matter’s theme of presence throughout worship, small group ministry and religious exploration this month and sharing our offering plate with Charter House Coalition.

Stay for social hour in Fellowship Hall.

Congregational Conversation: “Fostering” Foster Care: Afterward at 11:30 am back up in the sanctuary, we were joined by the Resource Director of Middlebury’s Dept. of Families & Children for a congregational conversation and information session about foster care in our area. Led by Tom Morgan and Irena Pavlin with Margy & Jordan Young, Mike & Liam Greenwood and others.
