Email and Directory Policy
Reviewed by Board of Trustees on January 16, 2003
The Board of Trustees values the need for connecting with the congregation as a whole and each other individually as well as an individual’s right to privacy. The church directory is a vehicle for getting to know one another and for communication, both individually and as a group. It is anticipated that individuals will use the directory to communicate with one another for personal and social purposes.
However, the Board also believes that email addresses and other directory information given to CVUUS should not be used for commercial or political purposes. Therefore, email addresses and other directory information given to CVUUS should not be used for commercial or political purposes. Therefore, email that is sent to the entire CVUUS congregation in “broadcast” form using addresses from the Society’s directory may only be used for the following purposes:
- Announcements of Congregational Meetings
- Congregational Cancellations
- Emergencies
Further, CVUUS will only use other directory information for congregational purposes such as church mailings of the newsletter and congregational mailings.
Information in the CVUUS directory may not be used for commercial or political purposes.
If there is a question as to whether or not information may be transmitted via email or regular mail, either the Board of Trustees or the Executive Committee will make the final determination.
