Seeking Music Director

CVUUS seeks a part-time Music Director for 18 hours per week to lead our choir, help accompany worship and coordinate other musicians.  They would help shape weekly services and special seasonal services (such as:  Water Ingathering, Indigenous Weekend. Winter Solstice, Christmas Eve, Contra Dance events, Earth Day, June 19th, Pride March or Open Mic.). Together we will explore music from various traditions and styles, and experiment with different ensembles to invite the congregation into a worship experience that enriches and celebrates life. We trust the Director of Music will inspire our minds and hearts with creative and thoughtful music that reflects our spiritual, cultural, and lifestyle diversity (Jewish, Agnostic, Christian, Buddhist, Pagan, Young, Not-so-young, Queer and Quirky).

Eliminating Systemic Racism

Learn about the proposed “8th” UU Principle: Dismantling Systemic Racism. CVUUS adopted our own version of this in March 2023. CVUUS Race in America Book Group led by Jean Terwilliger and Mike Greenwood discussed ROUGH SLEEPERS by Tracy Kidder about healing the homeless and is working with other local faith groups to expand affordable housing in Addison County. CVUUS participates in LGBTQIA+ advancement & Pride rallies. Read More about “Proposed “8th” UU Principle: Dismantling Systemic Racism”

Interfaith Summer Picnic

Middlebury Friends Meeting (Quakers) are hosting  a picnic Sat Aug 10 at Branbury State Park to which CVUUS,  Havurah (Jewish congregation) and Bread Loaf Mountain Zen Center is also invited. Our faith groups had a long tradition of gathering for a potluck picnic at Button Bay so this is a resurrection of that. Admittance to park is $4 or free for seniors with Green Mountain State Park pass (age 62+) which you can get at your town clerk’s office. Public libraries provide free passes. Some games will be provided and encouraged, but bring yours, as well as your own plates and utensils and chairs and kayak.
